Yes, I want to get back into Dexter, as I don't think I even finished the first season! So I've got some catching up to do. We've got a Samsung Smart TV, so I can use it to search the web to find a site that does stream MF episodes. I have started re-watching the Arrested Development series (one of my faves!), as well as started watching Breaking Bad, which is very good but very dark!

We also have a few friends who have the American Netflix. I've been told how to do it if you're streaming from the Wii, but am unsure how to do it on the Smart TV. Oh well, we're happy with these offerings and then we're not only watching TV when we have free time.

Thanks for the post! :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01548095177065959942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1274809963270546706.post-17210245121501398072013-01-14T18:12:49.251-08:002013-01-14T18:12:49.251-08:00Exactly, Jill! You can also bypass the Canadian Netflix and go to the US, but there are some tricks. My friend set us up, so I can't tell you exactly how, but it can relatively easily done. It came at a cost of 50$ per year, but the shows are much better, and still only 8$ a month.

We have been cable free for a few years now, and have no regrets. I have a epson, when I bought the printer I actually priced ink then went for the printer that goes with the cheapest ink.. I am really happy with it.. Was only $99 and have had it for about 3 years now.. You can recycle the ink cartridge and get a further 10% off at the store I get my ink from..
So its worth looking at when you need a new printer..
Welcome to my blog as a follower too. I avoid using coupons just to save money, because if it is not a product I would buy in the first place, then you're actually losing money. However, I have found a website that you can get a lot of household item coupons like hair care products, toilet paper, and paper towels. Those ones I find useful!

One thing that I have seen both you, my parents, and Grandma do is canning! I've got jam figured out (with a little help still!), but my goal in the next few years is to obtain some canning 'equipment' and start trying some stuff out!

Sounds like you've got some really great ideas and definitely some easy changes to save some money! We tend to buy vegetables in season so we eat a lot of root vegetables in the winter. Bulk spices - Yes, we have found purchasing bulk spices is very economical. Years ago we made a small investment in 38 small jars with colour coded lids, red (spices with heat), green (herbs), blue (whole spices), yellow (aromatic, such as cinnamon, allspice, etc). Other bulk items we purchase are potatoes, 50 pounds at a time, the same with onions, both stored in a bin in a pantry cupboard in the garage, and bulk specials on tomato paste, chickpeas and beans. After a brief flirtation with coupons, we gave them up as the products tend to be highly processed foods which are pricey to begin with and contain too much sugar, fat, or salt. Checking the flyers for weekly specials is more economical than coupons. And when turkeys are on special we pick up two. Something I learned from Grandma and Great Grandma Fern - winter cooking is more economical as you can cook a roast, turkey, or a ham on Sunday and that provides substance for sandwiches and other meals at the beginning of the week. Bones and leftover bits of meat go into the soup pot to make a good stock. Soups and stews are very nourishing and are the least expensive meals to prepare. You are off to a great start! Mind you, it has taken us this long as well, but we also just combined our finances into the same account, so we've just recently developed our own 'money'. I have to admit, we didn't put in a date budget! I guess we were just expecting to either a) not go on any dates, b) use remaining movie and restaurant gift cards to go out, or c) take it our of our entertainment budgets. I definitely think next month we may have a date budget!

Thank you my dear, and please keep checking back for more money saving updates! Congrats again on the baby news :). Thanks so much for your comment, as y...Hi Chelsea!

Thanks so much for your comment, as you're the first on the new blog to leave a question! As for our jar categories, we currently have all our variable costs: Groceries, Gas, Entertainment (we each have a jar), Gifts, House, Vehicle Maintenance, Clothing, and Personal Maintenance. Now, the clothing jar refers to necessities, like replacing something(s) if needed. If we want to splurge and buy ourselves a 'treat' that we don't need, then it must come out of our personal Entertainment jar. These variable costs, and we determined at the beginning of the month, how much we would need to spend on each category. Hope this helps with saving, and tears! <3Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01548095177065959942noreply@blogger.com
